There are some photographers who are just pressing a button. And then there are the others who see the world in a very different way...

Marc--Had not seen about the Italian guy also suing her. There has been a range of articles about her financial woes for awhile, and though I feel some sympathy as I do not like anyone to have big problems, I cannot really feel sorry for her. Rumored 2 million dollars a year salary from Vanity Fair, in addition to all the other work that brought big $, and she still went into debt? Her accountant was saying "Whoa" and instead of heeding good advice she fired him!

Yes David, I agree, the problems all sounds self inflicted. But it is still sad for her nonetheless and unfortunate to see an icon like her go down in flames like that.

Marc--agreed, still sad. If it was Cartier-Bresson I probably would have mailed a donation to help him out. What is really sad was a link I saw somewhere early this AM that all the problems would not be there if she could have married her lover Susan Sontag. When Sontag died and left her a townhouse that is where the problems began, if Leibovitz was a man the tax rules would be completely different and she would have been in the clear.

Seems like Leibovitz worked out an agreement. Also read somewhere that Sontag had left her house to her son, so perhaps that was not the ultimate cause of the financial woes. I think Mike Johnston who runs the wonderful Online Photographer website summed it up best   when he said "A lot of people got caught in a bad place when the housing market crashed. Maybe Annie's problems were simply on a bigger scale—and a bigger stage."    http://theonlinephotographer.typepad.com/the_online_photographer/blog_index.html

Good to hear David. Glad to know she has been able to work things out.

I like her work. It is immediately recognizable. A pity about her financial management. I hope she finds a way to resolve these matters.
