There are some photographers who are just pressing a button. And then there are the others who see the world in a very different way...

Since we are on the rumour mill, here's one that confirmed many times over now, but nonetheless interesting, the Sony A850:

http://www.dyxum.com/dforum/a850-first-internet-price-1999_topic50664.html

It seems to become the first FF DSLR that falls around $2,000. When looking at the results achieved by A900 photographers, Sony is looking increasingly tempting.

By coincidence, I stepped in to Big Camera at Central World at the same time as they unpacked the first Pentax K-7 btw. That's a sweet camera indeed. Tiny size, smaller than Nikon D90, rock solid build quality with weather sealing and all, and great ergonomics. The guy in the shop could tell me that only 600 cameras had been delivered to Thailand. They had received four, two body only and two kits, and the rest were sold out from the distributor. Hopefully, there will be more later. This is a camera that deserves to succeed, but with the way the Thai camera works, I wouldn't be surprised if this is it. Time will show though...

Epixx I stopped by yesterday to have a look at the K-7. What would be your choice for lenses or just one lens for that camera? Purpose would be for travel photography and reducing the weight of my Canon L Lenses. Also the sales person showed me the Olympus Pen E-P1 however after reading some various user reviews it seems that the available lenses are the biggest drawback with slow and inaccurate focusing in low light situations.
Thanks

What I particularly like from Pentax, are the Limited primes. A 15mm f/4.0, 43mm f/1.9 and a 70mm f/2.4 or 77mm f/1.8 (portrait lens, the 70mm is smaller, sharper and cheaper) is a great combination, but not cheap. Most of those lenses are around 200g each, and very small, so great for travel. For zooms, the 50-135mm f/2.8 is a bargain (just over 30,000 I think). Very sharp, just over 600 grams and weather sealed like the camera. The 16-50mm f/2.8 is good too, but not as good as the 50-135.
