There are some photographers who are just pressing a button. And then there are the others who see the world in a very different way...

Hi,

I am a newbie to Thailand and Photography been reading a couple of Photography forums and they suggest 2 options A) Something like a Nikon D40 or a camera between a basic didgital and a DSLR. Anyone here who can give me some advise?

Buy a DSLR, that way if you buy some good lenses you'll be able to use them later when you upgrade your camera

I'm with Bjorn, get the dslr if you can afford it, though point and shoot cameras are getting very very good and more than a few photographers I know are now carrying points and shoots as their back up cameras a dslr just allows you to be more creative with your photography and just feels so much more like a real camera than a toy. It will likely also call on you to shoot more it just begs to be used while a point and shoot can easily sit in a drawer somewhere and be all but forgotten.

Agree with the above, buy a DSLR. There are excellent ones available for just above 20,000 baht. Nikon D40/D60 are good, as are Olympus E-520 and Pentax K200D. I've heard that there's a company named Canon somewhere out there, making cameras as well   Grin

Thanks, epixx, Lotuseater & Bjorn slis for your advise. I think I will go the DSLR route now just go to decide on the model, from what I have read from the web the Nikon D40 X sounds like a good starter.

They make printers and scanners? I thought it was copiers  Cheesy

Actually, my first PC was a Canon, with two 5 1/4" floppy drives, 640KB of RAM and a colour monitor. Rather expensive at around $4,000.
