There are some photographers who are just pressing a button. And then there are the others who see the world in a very different way...

Hi all. I just wanted to introduce myself instead of lurking all the time (I'm a lurker by nature).

I live in Bangkok on a permanent basis (presently travelling).

I'm not new to photography. But, except for a few safe settings, I am new to taking my camera off automatic. Soooo... I'll be paying special attention to the suggestions and advice given on this forum.

I recently purchased a Canon Kiss (Rebel) X2 and will be adding to it gradually.

My former favourite SLR was an Om-10. And even when I lost it on a camera shoot (canoe turned over) and traded up, I eventually bought a secondhand Om-10 as it is (to me) a great beginners camera. Olympus went through a tough time (I went through several of the newer models before giving up on the brand) but now we have digitals...

I'm in the process of buying photography books so if you have any to put forward, please do.

So far I have:

David Busch's Canon EOS Rebel XSi/450D Digital SLR Photography

On order...

The Photographer's Eye: Composition and Design for Better Digital Photos
Beyond Portraiture: Creative People Photography ...
Understanding Exposure: How to Shoot Great Photographs with a Film or Digital Camera (Updated Edition)
Digital SLR Pro Secrets
Complete Guide to High Dynamic Range Digital Photography

I'm also collecting photography blogs that share tips, so if you have any of those, ditto. Below is one of my favourites...

Anyway, hello from me...
