I've been recommended the Epson v700 but just today I found someone selling a secondhand Canon 9900F for a very good price. Has anyone had any experiences or know anything about this scanner?
Thanks in advance

No. But I have an old Nikon LS-2000 scanner to be had for cheap. Well known unit, old, but still fetching anywhere from $100-$550 on ebay now. I'm moving away soon and basically just want to be rid of it as it's too heavy to take with me.

One of the best film scanners which does both 35mm and 120 film is the Nikon 9000 ED in my opinion. I have worked with it many times and it is a good machine. But Epson makes good ones too and I know someone who has one and seems very happy with it. It might also be good to look for some reviews on CNET

Cheers guys. This canon one that has come up is damn cheap. I'll check the reviews though.

There's probably a reason why it's cheap. For flatbed scanners, Epson is hard to beat, and the V700/750 models represent a quality bordering to that of dedicated film scanners. But it all depends on what you are going to use your scans for, and what quality you require. I use an old Epson 3200, but I mostly scan for web use. If I scanned medium format for print, I would save up and get the V750.

Thanks for your thoughts. I'll have to hot the reviews - well the concluding paragraphs anyway.
