There are some photographers who are just pressing a button. And then there are the others who see the world in a very different way...

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to share with you a webpage that I find very inspiring: http://www.ashesandsnow.org/

The photographer, Gregory Colbert, is not well known but I've been admiring his work for a long time! If you want to know a bit more about him: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gregory_Colbert

Hope you'll enjoye! Wink

Patsy.

It seems curiously interesting, but the navigation on that site is trying too hard to be "fantastic" that it becomes confusing and I eventually gave up and clicked off. A shame when people do that with photo web sites as I find it to their determent.

I had a proper look this morning at the basic experience as last night I was a little too inhebriated to watch the enhanced version.
I can see why youre inspired with the spiritual theme and the interactions between man and beast but there's something quite new age about the whole experience with it's ambient soundtrack and softly spoken monologues - at times the compositions seem too forced. Some phenominally beautiful pictures mind and I have no idea how he managed to get some of them (the ones with the whales particluarly)
Thanks for the link.

Thanks Jorgen!

I did say unusual eeeh...as David said the whole new age experience, you either like it or hate it! :-\
But in fairness after a couple of time surfing on the page (in my case, much more) you then prefer the basic experience Wink Maybe I should have had introduced you his work with a direct link to the basic experience page!

Have a nice week-end (Im going right now to Capadocia- Turkey)

I agree with Marc, you get lost quite easy with the website navigation but that's the Colbert poetic world... "too much" of mystic art for me but some awesome images.

Why not get lost? We are in Thailand. If it happened, it was probably meant to happen    Cheesy

Whatever majestic photos might have been experienced within , after a painfully slow time navigating the site, constantly in fear of the New Age police arresting me or a pop up for Yanni's latest album appearing, I gave up. The new age stuff got in the way of my looking at the photographs.

Some interesting stuff, but as been said even the basic version of the website is a tad annoying and user-unfriendly.

interesting stuff, it says none of the images are superimposed. I'd love to sit down with him and find out how he gets some of those shots. Other worldly magnificence.

I found no problems with the website - i used the 'basic' version and went straight to the portfolio section to scroll through the images.

Pleasantly atmospheric.

I at first thought he was liberal with PS, but if he says not...

Until reading about Gregory, I was unaware of the Animal Copyright Foundation -->> www.animalcopyright.org

Interesting concept.
