There are some photographers who are just pressing a button. And then there are the others who see the world in a very different way...

Dear All,

I would like to know if there are any other companies which provide similar services to printcafe.co.th which is in the shopping malls in Bangkok?

I'm interested in making a 10"x10" hardcover book and would like to check if printcafe is the only choice? they are not very helpful with my questions.

Does anyone know more details about their services?

e.g.
what color profile should i be using?
What type of printer/paper do they use.
What file format can they accept, what are the safe bleed areas
Can the books do full panoramics across the whole page?

IQ lab has serval locations and offers print on demand books.  They are slightly on the pricey if you compare to Blurb.com and such.  Their quality is good from what I have seen.

Check out their website.  www.iqlab.co.th  They have been helpful with my questions.  All of your questions should be directed to the lab/printer.

As far as a profile goes, each printer will have you download a printer profile for their equipment which you can then convert your file to before printing.  I use Adobe 1998 as my working space, although I know more and more people are using Prophoto RGB.

Yep..

Keep it all in Adobe 98. It will get ripped to CMYK because thats what most of the printers they use to make the books use, so 98 is your best bet.

I forgot the shop name, but it is on fortune town mall and they use indigo printers... they can also do perfect binding and the price looks reasonable

I have photographs of my late nephew which i would like to make into a photobook and have been looking all over Malaysia for a facility that will be able to scan thse photos and have been unsuccesful. Apparently, they need to scan these photos on 300dpi. whatever that means. Can someone direct me in Bangkok, where i can send all my photos and they will be able to retouch them, add background and enhance some of the photos. I am crossing my fingers and toes on this. Thanks.

What about softcovers?

All the shops that I have been visited so far are only offering hard covers if your book is about 100 pages.
If anybody has a tip, I would really appreciate  Wink

Why not just use Blurb.com.
