There are some photographers who are just pressing a button. And then there are the others who see the world in a very different way...

Hello everyone,

Was wondering if there is insurance  for your photographic equipment available in Thailand.  Talked to a firend back in Malaysia about photographic equipment insurance, but haven't heard anything yet from him.  Any help would be useful.

Most renters or home insurance policies will cover your equipment while it is in your home. Getting it covered when you travel is another matter. It took a lot of persuading but I eventually was able to get my equipment covered while I'm traveling by my home insurance company. I use ANZ.

Well, thanks Gary for your comment... I really don't know whether I have any home insurance... renting a studio apartment.  Will have to talk to the super about this.  Is there any other way of insuring camera equipment?

I've seen ads in magazines and online in the past for specific photo gear insurance. Usually these seemed to be UK based and I don't know what their policy is for outside the UK. I do suspect that google would turn up some of those. I have also heard that if you join the Nikonians that they have some insurance offerings and you don't have to use Nikon gear to join them. I haven't researched this but it's what comes to mind just from what I've seen in the past. I once bought a magazine here that had a insert card offering photo insurance packages. Anyway, checking out the Nikonians should be easy enough on the web.

Nikonians suspended their insurance offering last year. No reason given.
