There are some photographers who are just pressing a button. And then there are the others who see the world in a very different way...

Problem with autofocus on 5D
«

I have a problem with my camera in that both my prime lenses (50mm and 85mm) no longer auto focus (well once in 10 pushes) and get jammed whilst trying to focus.
My zoom (24 - 70) is however fine. I'm going to visit the canon service centre this week but has anyone experienced something similar and how much is it likely to cost me for a repair?

Sounds like a problem with the electronic contacts, but I can't be sure of course.

David--I agree with Marc but I am curious as to why the zoom works and the others do not, and also curious as did they both stop working at once? By chance, you were not fiddling with custom functions, were you? On my 5D I once did to turn the activation for focus switch to the back of the camera instead of on top, forgot I had done it, and could not understand why I could not focus as I had done previously as it was not working. BTW, never did like it as I was just too used to so many years of focusing with button on top.

Thnaks for your thoughts guys. I reckon it must be a contact thing. The two primes are very similar. Damn annoying but I'm sure its's not too major.
