There are some photographers who are just pressing a button. And then there are the others who see the world in a very different way...

Thai BW Photo Exhibit

Just thought I'd mention another photo show. I checked it out tonight and think it's definitely worth seeing.
I've never heard of them but it's put on by BWthai.org - which I gather is a B+W Thai Photo Group of some sort.
Many photos from Thailand, Myanmar and some from Europe as well.
Location: Central World - go in front and head to back area. I think it was 3rd floor but not sure. They had a big sign up above the Disney kids area and the photos are behind the sign.
Runs until Jan. 6th
All B+W of course and ranging from digtal, to film and large format as well.
Also includes a fairly decent selection of Royal Portraits and photos by the CENSORED WORD.
Nicely presented for the most part in proper frames with lights above each.
And childrens music accompanying from the nearby Xmas kids booths.
Free.

Chris--Great exhibition, there were some real nice photos in there I thought. Two that come right to mind were the 2 young monks and a dog, and their reflection in the water on the pavement, and a child walking thru a tunnel of bamboo. Reminded me of the classic W. Eugene Smith photo of his 2 kids walking thru the woods, titled "A Walk To Paradise Garden". I remember seeing an exhibition of Smith's photos in NYC when I was a kid, and have never forgotten that photo. He was a great photographer, and did a lot to expose bad things happening in the world. The accidental mercury poisoning that he showed in Japan was the right thing to do, but he got beat up pretty bad for it as many did not want the truth to be told.
Looked at the website, but it is mostly all in Thai and I cannot read it well enough. I know a tiny bit to entice one is in English, but then when you click on that in all comes up in Thai. If it was in English I am sure there would be falangs who would join. :-) Anyway, the exhibition is definitely worth going to.
