Does anyone know of a good place for shooting some football or similar sports around Bangkok?
Ideally somewhere that is consistently having games and where non-press can get near the sidelines and shoot for practice. Maybe you've noticed a place while walking by. I don't need any big teams or anything - just want to practice on moving suitable action. But I don't want to have to go again and again and nothing is going on at the field.
Thanks for any tips.
Chris :)

National Stadium next to MBK is one possibility. Another would be the big stadium at Ramkamhaeng University. I believe the Sports Ministry is located there as well. Getting close to the sideline shouldn't be too difficult, unless there's a popular foreign team involved.

I thought about National Stadium but having not been inside I expected it was used for "real" games where you'd need press credentials to get to the sideline and shoot. If someone out there has done it without and knows it's easy to get in and shoot like that (for non-press) then please add your experience here.

I'd go out to Ramkamhaeng if I knew for sure they have games always at a certain time. It's too far to just go on the hit and miss chance.

Thanks for your input. Makes me think I should go ask at Thamasat University (which is very close for me) as they have a field there but I would need to find out when they have regular action.

One match that is highly recommended, not so much for the match itself, but all the spectacle around it, is the annual football match between Chula and Thamasat. It's at National Stadium in the beginning of January.

It's important to be aware that club football in Thailand is not on a very high level compared to the professional clubs of Europe. My guess is that, with a polite approach towards the organisers, most clubs would be happy to see a foreigner showing enough interest in their activities to take photos from the sideline.

I agree to you epixx. National Stadium is a great place to practice football. There are many teams playing in this stadium. I remember the time when our team played here. Everyone did their part to get a perfect practice.

You can also try the local rugby games - a mix of thai, mixed and foreign teams play in a few different comps.

There are regular games out at Kasetsart University and training 5 nights a week at 6pm.

there are also semi regular games at RBSC, next one is on 11 July starting from 6pm

i reckon RBSC is your best bet, good lighting at night and all teh teams are pretty well kitted out.
