There are some photographers who are just pressing a button. And then there are the others who see the world in a very different way...

For those interested in this sort of thing - the Annual Longboat Races are being held (yesterday) today and tomorrow (weekend Dec. 8th) at the Rama 8 bridge. I haven't been down there but as for most Thai events ear plugs are useful. This is a fairly big deal each year with plenty of colourful paddling going on along with a typical amount of fair-like beer drinking activity etc.

Sounds interesting Chris. Thanks for alerting us. I never knew they held that in Banbgkok. I always thought it was only in one of the Esan provinces, I forget which one right now though.

I know in the spring and maybe fall they have paddling races up in Nan--the cheerleaders (except their ages pretty much started at 40+) hooting and hollering on the side were great.

I shot this one two years ago but didn't get down there this time. It is very loud. They set up loudspeakers and some guy makes a real racket cheering them on over the PA, machine gun style. I was across the river at the park in Banglumphu and I could hear the music even loud from this side. You know, they only know one number on the volume dial here...

Went and shot some Democracy Monument water display shots this evening. But that was another story...

Never seen so many camera toting happy snappers, nor so many tripods.
