I am looking to get the above zoom, and would be glad to hear some comments whether negative or positiv about this lense.
As the Nikon 17-55 is actually much pricier, i heard it is a good deal for a good quality though..
Thanks,

I believe the Sigma is 18-50. From what I've heard, the Tamron 17-50 is a bit better, but I own neither, so take it for what it's worth

Timely post. My latest edition of Digital Photo has a test on all of these lenses. The comparison was between the Canon 17-55, Nikon 17-55, Pentax 16-50, Sigma 17-55 and Tamron 17-70.
They awarded the Gold Award to the Sigma 18-50 and the Silver award to the Nikon 17-55. Although the Nikon was the superior lensein ourtright performance the Sigma was chosen because it represented excellent value for money. They rated it superior to the Tamron lense in Features and build and Performance, but all were inferior in Image quality to the Nikon, but the Nikon is significantly more expesive. The Nikon was the only lens to be give a five star rating for Features and Build, Perfmance, and Image quality. The only thing they rated it down on was value for money.
Hope this helps. You would be able to buy the Magazine at one of the bigger News Agencies,/bookshops in bangkok if you are interested in reading the review.
Regards
Gus
