There are some photographers who are just pressing a button. And then there are the others who see the world in a very different way...

Any good places for shooting in BKK? Just step outside of your hotel/ apartment and you are there. Thailand must be one of the most photogenic places on this earth. Every step is a photo op.

Grab a guide book and hit all the recommended places. Or more fun hire a tuk tuk and cruise round until you see something you like. Hope you find lots of pic ops. Post some soon!

Hi to everyone  Grin

I maybe moving in Bangkok in a month, just wanna ask you guys if you have heard or known of camera snatching in Bangkok? If there are, any advice on how to avoid our expensive cameras from being snatched? It just occurs in my mind, I'm hoping there aren't.

Thanx guys.

That's easy: keep your camera in your hand, neck-strap two or three time around your wrist. That way, it's always ready for the next shot, and very difficult to snatch. I mostly carry only one lens though. Nothing of value in my bag  :)

In general though, I feel much safer with my camera in Bangkok than in most big European cities.

A lot less to worry about than most American cities as well. Just a little common sense and you will be fine.

I second that. Normally when I walk the streets of Thailand, whether it's BKK or another province, I feel much safer than walking the streets of Melbounrne, Australia! There are less people with 'attitude' in Thailand.

Enjoy

It's very easy to get caught up in the moment (and there will be many) when you let your guard down and turn around to discover something is missing. If you have one, travel with a slingshot camera bag of some sort that is on your chest and/or maybe a small backpack that is not easily opened. I have found that a slingshot camera  bag (I use a Kata bag) on your chest at the right level makes a perfect mount for placing my elbow to steady my hand when taking shots. As others have mentioned, Thailand is generally far safer than most places in Euorpe or Amercia, but petty theft is not uncommon and like most places, there are always opportunists lurking.
