There are some photographers who are just pressing a button. And then there are the others who see the world in a very different way...

People are constantly asking about cheaper camera prices around the region and the best place to buy. It used to be that Singapore had some good prices and I had once bought a lens there at Cathay Camera, but that was it and is the limit to my personal experience buying camera equipment outside of Thailand or the USA. Things have changed now though and Singapore is no longer nearly as competitive as Hong Kong from what I have heard more recently although, again, I have no firsthand experience buying camera equipment in Hong Kong as of yet.

I have though gathered some information about the lowest priced camera stores in Hong Kong for anyone that might be interested and the details are as follows together with a couple of photos of one of the shops. They are in an area of Hong Kong called Mongkok and the shops are called Man Shing and Wing Shing. If you drop thosee names into Goggle you will find various discussions on people's own buying experiences with these shops in case you want to read more about them. There is also a guy in Hong Kong who puts up a site that provides information about camera prices at these 2 stores in Hong Kong. I am not sure how up to date his information is at times, but it is still a good guideline for a rough idea on cost:

Thanks Marc. Very useful information. I guess that's where I should go for my D3 (and next year's rumoured D3X). Just need to rob a couple of banks first   Cheesy
